Friends Camp 2007

Over 70 children and workers joined us at Morapoi on Monday 8th October to begin a great week at Friends Camp.

The camp was lead by Pastor Greg & Carol Stubbs and the Morapoi community team. They were joined by a chef from Perth, 19 students and staff from Trinity Christian School in Canberra, a group of helpers from Kalgoorlie and a high school student from Bunbury. Although a diverse mob, they worked well together to give the young campers (mainly primary aged Indigenous kids) a great time.

Each day Greg and Carol lead the campers in a mix of Bible stories, activities and fun singing (often with enthusiastic percussion by the kids). Outside activities included riding motorbikes and horses, canoeing on the station dam, playing a variety of sports (including having a go at archery), and even camping out overnight in the bush.

There were many highlights for the campers, and one of them pictured below was the group ice cream sculpture competition (with all sculptures eaten after judging was finished!)

As the buses loaded up on Friday afternoon to take the kids home, a couple of them said that this was their best week of the year, and many were already making plans to come back for the next one.
